Resettlement
The Resettlement Program at Jewish Family Services assists refugees and their families with critical social services needed to ease their transition into a new way of living. With our help, individuals become self-sufficient and are able to create a stable living environment in the Ann Arbor area.
Dedicated bi-lingual and bi-cultural professionals fulfill our mission by promoting and delivering individually focused social and vocational services through a variety of programs.
Pre-Arrival, Reception and Placement Services:
- Pre-arrival Processing
- Reception Services
- Post-arrival resettlement services for the first 30 days that include: development and implementation of a resettlement plan; case maintenance; refugee orientation; employment assessment; provision of referrals; basic needs support
Case Management:
- Oversight, coordination, and integration of all services, referrals, and programs provided to the client
Acculturation and ESL classes:
- Acculturation classes to assist refugees with orienting them to the local community; access to services , and adjustment issues, ESL classes are offered every day (morning and afternoon)
Employment Services:
- Work First
- Career Services
- Job Club to assist with resume writing, interview preparation, job search skills, and adjustment to American work place culture
Translation of Documents:
- Essential documents are translated into the English language for necessary linkage to services and access to education
Provision of Donated Furniture:
- As available for new arrivals, vocational services clients, based on need
