Community Outreach
We are committed to promoting education and outreach about numerous issues facing social workers, educators and other community providers in Washtenaw County. Some of the past workshops, trainings and seminars provided through our Community Outreach program have included Depression Awareness (annual workshop), Working with Children with Special Needs (Camp counselor in-service) and Lunch Bunch (8 week girls support group). Serving social workers, educators and other community providers, our licensed professional social workers and MSW student interns offer support and education in the following ways:
- Resource and Referral
- Case Management
- Topic-Specific Trainings
- Support Groups
- Seminars and Workshops
- Jewish Community Outreach
Fee: Determined on a case by case basis.
Capacity: Interest in training, seminars, workshops as well as direct services.
Intake: If you are representing an organization looking for training, seminars and workshops, please contact Lisa Keefauver, Director of Crisis Management and Community Services at (734) 769-0209. If you are an individual or family in need of assistance please call (734) 769-0209 to complete a short telephone interview with one of our Intake Specialists to discuss your needs and goals. Because of limited staffing hours, all initial requests for service are handled on the phone only.
Note: All work is supervised by the Director of Crisis Management and Community Services. Many of these services will be provided by an MSW intern specializing in work with children and families and/or interpersonal practice or by a professional MSW staff. Topic-specific trainings, seminars and workshops will largely be provided by the Director of Crisis Management and Community Services or professional volunteers working with Jewish Family Services.
Collaborative partnerships: United Way of Washtenaw County, Success by Six, Barrier Busters and Washtenaw Alliance for Children and Youth.
