At JFS, we believe that everyone deserves access to nutritious food that honors their culture, health needs, and personal dignity. The Nourish Pantry is Washtenaw County’s only pantry designed to meet the diverse needs of our community through culturally responsive and medically appropriate food options.

Whether you are looking for Halal, Kosher, gluten-free, allergy-aware, diabetic-friendly, or liquid diet options, our team works to ensure your family has access to the foods that best support your health and well-being.

Serving hundreds of families each week, the Nourish Pantry offers convenient and accessible ways to receive food assistance, including:

• Curbside pickup Thursdays, 11am-4pm, no appointment necessary
• Delivery available with medical waiver. (Please contact [email protected])
• Order ahead online options is available for a quicker curbside pickup or delivery to those who qualify
• Kosher grocery delivery / Yad Ezra partnership available if needed (once per month)
• For emergency food, email us at [email protected] and we will work to accommodate your needs.​

SHALOM KITCHEN
Where Food Becomes Medicine

The Shalom Kitchen is a Food Is Medicine Coalition-certified kitchen dedicated to improving health outcomes through nutritious, medically tailored meals and snacks.

Working in partnership with healthcare providers throughout Southeast and Mid-Michigan, our culinary team prepares meals designed to support individuals managing chronic illnesses, recovering from medical procedures, or navigating complex health conditions. Every meal is created with the understanding that proper nutrition plays a critical role in healing, wellness, and quality of life.

The Shalom Kitchen also serves as a vital community resource by:

• Preparing medically tailored meals for eligible patients
• Producing nutritious snacks for delivery to older adults
• Serving as a Meals on Wheels provider
• Supporting community nutrition and food access initiatives

Each week, our kitchen prepares and packages more than 10,000 meals, helping individuals across the region access healthy, nourishing food that supports their health and independence.

WISE CENTER AT THE J CONGREGATE MEALS
More than a Meal - A Place to Connect

The WISE Center at the J is a welcoming congregate meal program that brings older adults together for nutritious meals, meaningful activities, and social connection. Hosted at the Jewish Community Center of Ann Arbor, the program provides a warm and engaging environment where participants can enjoy healthy food while building friendships and reducing social isolation.

Research shows that staying socially connected is essential to healthy aging. Through shared meals, educational opportunities, recreational activities, and community engagement, the WISE Center at the J helps older adults maintain their independence, well-being, and quality of life.

What We Offer

• Hot, nutritious, balanced lunches prepared by the JFS Shalom Kitchen
• Opportunities for socialization and community connection
• Educational, wellness, and recreational activities
• A welcoming and inclusive environment for older adults throughout Washtenaw County

​Who Is Eligible?

• All Washtenaw County residents are welcome.
• Adults age 60 and older participate free of charge.
• Individuals under age 60 are welcome to attend for a small fee.

Program Schedule
The WISE Center at the J takes place at the Jewish Community Center of Ann Arbor:

• Mondays at 12:00 p.m.
• Wednesdays at 12:00 p.m.
• Fridays at 12:30 p.m.

Registration
Participants are asked to register at least 48 hours in advance to ensure meal availability.

Suggested Donation
A suggested donation of $3 per meal helps support the program and allows us to continue serving older adults throughout our community.
