Resettlement and Immigration

As the only resettlement agency in Washtenaw County, JFS assists refugees and immigrants, other special immigrant visa holders and their families with critical social services needed to ease their transition into their new communities.

Greater Toledo Newcomer Center

Offering critical resettlement support and ongoing social services to promote meaningful inclusion of newly arrived refugees and immigrants in the greater Toledo area.

Citizenship Classes

Offering free citizenship classes in preparation to pass the naturalization interview and test, plus other help with application services, naturalization eligibility screenings, preparing and filing a medical waiver, and more.

Youth Programs

Working with refugee youth and other eligible populations on integrating into life in their new community. Services include mentoring, tutoring, youth groups, counseling and more to aid with social adjustment.

ESL Classes

The ESL program at JFS is more than a language training curriculum. It is also designed to provide students with social, cultural and practical skills.

Refugee Agricultural Partnership Program
Assists refugees, asylees, Cuban/Haitian entrants, Afghan and Ukrainian parolees, victims of human trafficking, and Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) holders in learning the American agricultural system, participate in a community garden, and navigate community resources to improve their livelihoods physically, economically, and psychosocially.
Requirements:

Afghans paroled after 9/30/22 who are spouse or child of those paroled before 9/30/22.
refugees, asylees, or LPR’s who previously held that status
SIVs
Victims of Human Trafficking
Entered US or attained that status within the last 3 years
Be able to commit to attending the garden space at least once a week for 16 weeks beginning May.

JFS Made
JFS Made is a collection of brands and creations by JFS clients for their community. JFS Made supports refugee entrepreneurs and other small business owners by connecting them with market opportunities to sell their products at local community events, Farmer’s Markets, the JFS Made website, and inside the JFS Made store (located at 2245 S. State Street, Ann Arbor).
