Join our Volunteer Community!
We offer unique opportunities for individuals and teams be an integral part of our mission to create solutions, promote dignity, and inspire humanity. Volunteers are engaged in every area of the agency, from helping new families resettle from a foreign country to stocking and distributing food in the pantry. This is a great place to feel like you are truly making a difference!

Volunteer Opportunites

FOOD PANTRY
Various roles are available including stocking and organizing the pantry, preparing grocery packages and helping with curbside grocery pick up. 
Available at Ann Arbor location.

GROCERY OR MEAL DELIVERY
Delivery groceries or meals to homebound seniors or others in need in Washtenaw County.
Individual and small group opportunities available at Ann Arbor location.

SHALOM KITCHEN
Kitchen Assistants support our chef with packaging meals for homebound seniors, individuals with chronic illness and others in need.

REFUGEE RESETTLEMENT
Help JFS support our newcomers with a variety of opportunities, including welcoming at the airport, move into their new home, provide bus utilization training, work at the community garden, youth mentoring and more.

​ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE (ESL) TUTORS
Give the gift of literacy in your community and become an English as a second language tutor. No previous experience or certification needed. Virtual and in-person opportunities are available. We can work with your schedule.

​ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT
Are you interested in employment focused activities? Assist our clients as a Job Readiness Coach, support our MED (Micro Enterprise Development) clients at local farmers markets and more.

WISE AGING SERVICES
Spend time with a homebound older adult and provide social connection as a Friendly Visitor that goes to a client’s home every week or every other week, or via Comfort Calls where you can make a social call from your home.
Uniper is a tech-enabled service supporting older adults to live a more connected, engaged, and active life. We are looking for technically skilled volunteers to help set up the Uniper service for our clients.

​OFFICE SUPPORT
Work in one of our many program areas that utilize volunteers to provide administrative support. Tasks Include: talking with clients on the phone with an interpreter, scheduling meetings, data entry and copying and scanning documents.
